Special thanks to Nathan Rivera for finally adding some majestic accordion to my songs like I’ve always dreamed; Jessie Andra Smith for always shining as bright as your resonator instruments on our two tracks; Timothy Schatz for drinking beer and eating hamburgers with me every time we worked on our song; Amy Levine for bringing an attitude to our recording session as sweet as your violin; Korey Kassir for your encouragement and dedication to going the extra mile to produce the heck out of our song; Ben Fox, Milly Raccoon and Joseph Faison for recording the last two songs with me back in 2017 and making my first time professionally recording music an unforgettable one.

This album is inspired by specific places I’ve been to over the years. The first four tracks were recorded this year as the world began opening back up and as my friends and I were itching to make music together again. The last two were recorded back in 2017. I always knew I wanted to include them on a release like this one that shared a common theme and genre. I’d like to think there is an element from each of the locations these song are about that comes through in the instrumentation.

Whether it’s one of the two love songs written about a loved one in Minnesota or missing her while hiking through the canyons of Zion National Park.

Or whether it’s the two upbeat tunes written in New Orleans or the coastal cliffs of Northern California.

Or the two stoic tunes about the plains of the Midwest or the memories of my Bay Area childhood home.

I wrote these songs to let the sweet moments of a special place linger a bit longer, even if just through a single lyric or a note on a guitar or ukulele. Here’s to hoping we can help ourselves and others take the time needed to find inspiration in the special places around us.
